Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and protect information when you use Farpace.
1Nature of Service
Farpace is a data aggregation platform that provides a streamlined interface for viewing public records filed with the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS). We do not create, originate, or modify the primary records. Our service is intended for professional use by contractors and trade professionals.
2Information We Collect
We categorize the data on our platform into two types:
- Public Record Data: Project descriptions, valuations, filing dates, and property addresses. This data is collected directly from government sources and is considered public information under the California Public Records Act.
- User Data: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and payment information (processed securely via Stripe).
3How We Use Information
We use public record data to provide a searchable database for our users. We use user data to manage your credit balance and provide access to the "Unlock" features of the site. We do not store or provide homeowner phone numbers or email addresses.
4Cookies, Analytics, and Third-Party Services
We use cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies to operate the Service, understand how visitors use Farpace, improve product performance, and measure marketing effectiveness. These technologies may collect device and usage information such as pages viewed, referring URLs, browser and device details, approximate location derived from IP address, timestamps, and interactions with the Service.
- Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to help analyze traffic and usage. Google may collect and process information about your use of Farpace as described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can learn more about Google's privacy practices at Google Privacy Policy and may opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- PostHog: We use PostHog for product analytics, including page views and usage events. PostHog may process usage data, device information, and event metadata on our behalf. You can learn more in the PostHog Privacy Policy.
- External links: Farpace may link to third-party services, including Google Maps, LADBS, and other public-record or mapping resources. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies when you leave Farpace.
5CCPA/CPRA Compliance (California Privacy Rights)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have specific rights regarding their "Household Data" (residential addresses):
- Right to Know: You may request to know what public records associated with your address are displayed on our site.
- Right to Opt-Out (Do Not Sell): Even though the data is public record, California law allows you to opt-out of the "sale" (unlocking for a fee) of your household address.
- Right to Delete: You may request that we remove the association between your address and the project details from our paid search results.
6FCRA Disclaimer (Mandatory)
Farpace is NOT a Consumer Reporting Agency. The data provided by Farpace does not constitute a "consumer report" as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
Warning
You may NOT use Farpace data to determine an individual's eligibility for personal credit, insurance, employment, or tenant screening. Use of this data for such purposes may subject you to significant legal liability.
7Data Broker Disclosure
Farpace acts as a data broker as defined by California SB 362 (The Delete Act). We honor all global opt-out signals and individual requests submitted via our Opt-Out Portal.
8Limitation of Liability
Farpace provides data "as-is." We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of LADBS filings. We are not liable for any business decisions made based on the public record data provided.
